Check out San Diego Restaurant Week!
By Annie Su
It’s that time of year again! Held twice a year in January and September, San Diego Restaurant Week (“SDRW”) is back!
From Sunday, September 15th to Friday, September 20th* at participating restaurants throughout San Diego County, you’ll be able to enjoy prix-fixe lunches priced at $10, $15 and $20 and three-course prix-fixe dinners priced at $20, $30 or $40. No event tickets are necessary for Restaurant Week, and reservations are a click away on www.OpenTable.com.
The good news is that you’ll be able to find a participating restaurant where you can treat your taste buds to a night out no matter where you live in San Diego County. The bad news is that from trying California cuisine in Spring Valley to Italian food in Encinitas, you will be competing with at least 140,000 other foodies looking to take advantage of discounted prices at nearly 180 restaurants, so make those reservations as early as you can.
Having been to Restaurant Week in New York and dineLA in Los Angeles, I made it a point 1L year when I moved to San Diego to see what good eats the area offered. My fiancé and I went to the Restaurant at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Old Town during the 2011 Restaurant Week on our first date, so believe me when I say that more than just good food can come out of San Diego Restaurant Week!
Check out the Restaurant Week website at www.SanDiegoRestaurantWeek.com for a complete list of participating restaurants organized by price, location and cuisine. (Even our very own La Gran Terraza participates in this foodie event!) Also, stay tuned for my review of The French Gourmet, which I’ll be going to during Restaurant Week to try frog legs for the very first time!
* Select restaurants offer discounted pre-fix menus for an additional week.
